Syrian army shelled areas in Damascus, killing 47 people



Opposition activists said Syrian regular army fired shells into southern Damascus on Wednesday and helicopters fired rockets and machine-gun fire during an attack to tighten the grip of President Bashar al-Assad on the capital.
Coincided government use of the Syrian army tanks and helicopter gunships this week in an attack across the capital with the departure of military observers of the United Nations after the unsuccessful mission.
According to United Nations estimates that 18 thousand people have been killed since the uprising began after the government responded violently to peaceful protests began 17 months ago then turned into armed conflict.
Opposition activists said that at least 47 people were killed in Damascus in what they described the most violent bombing this month.

As the army continued to bombard southern Damascus, activists said at least 22 people were killed in Kafr Sousa and 25 people were killed in the river area Aisha nearby.
The activists said the dead man named Musab al-Muhammad Ismail to return a journalist working for the state-owned newspaper was sympathetic to Assad uprising. The activists said he was executed in Aisha River.
