Government official article to Gaza: open the Rafah crossing for travelers Wednesday


An official in the deposed government in Gaza, said on Tuesday that the Egyptian authorities will open the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, Wednesday, for travelers in both directions, after it closed five consecutive days due to Eid al-Fitr holiday.

This came during a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), expressed as Maher Abu Sabha, director of the General Administration of crossings and borders of the dismissed government in Gaza, hoped to return to work in the terminal as it was before the recent crisis.

With regard to working in facilities crossing, which was Dr. Mohamed Morsi, President of the Republic, had promised Abu Sabha:'' So far things are not clear'' noting that they will hold later than Tuesday evening contacts with Egyptian officials to find out.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian authorities had closed the Rafah crossing after the armed attack that targeted the point of the Egyptian army in the Sinai before 16 days, which killed 16 soldiers and wounded 7 others.

The Egyptian government after nearly five days of closing open the crossing for those coming to the Gaza Strip only, then returned after the opening of the crossing for three days for departures from Gaza to the outside, and since last Friday Egyptian authorities closed the crossing because of the weekend and holiday Eid al-Fitr.
